3rd Doncaster East Scout Group

What is Scouting?

Scouting began in Australia in 1907, a year after its commencement in England. The aim of the Scouting movement is to assist young people with their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual growth. It has a worldwide membership of 25 million young people in 160 countries.

Scouts Australia is a multicultural, non-denominational, uniformed youth organization. Both boys and girls are welcome between the ages of 6-26 years.

Scouting helps young people to meet and conquer challenges and enables them to develop a sense of personal self worth and confidence.

Studies show one of the best ways to keep children focused during the teenage years is to give them a sense of belonging in their community — Scouting is a great way to achieve this.
Children often have many out-of-school activities, including sport, dancing, drama, language classes...but do any of them aim to develop the whole person and equip them to be responsible citizens, part of their community and able to resolve problems or issues that arise for them? Scouting does!

Young people in Scouting are given the opportunity to develop

Safety

The Scout Association is committed to the protection of children and was the first youth organization to require all adult Leaders to undergo a Police check and clearance prior to being accepted as a Leader. All activities are under the supervision of professionally trained adults, who care about the development of young people and their role in Australia’s future. All Leaders are required to update their training regularly.
